About me

Rennes, France

Composer/arranger, Yohann Le Ferrand also performs across Europe in the piece "Kirina" by choreographer Serge Aimé Coulibaly and with Rokia Traoré as musical director. We were able to see him on stage alongside Charlotte Dipanda, Dobet Gnahore, Inna Modja at United Nations headquarters in New York, and more recently TikenJah Fakoly. Since his beginnings in traditional Breton music, he has forged a musical identity with African-American music which will naturally bring him to Africa. Eternal traveler, this encounter with mother earth, at the roots of all its influences, will refine its musical language in organic compositions with afro funk pop tones where the acoustic texture has always this universal universal inclination. Solicited for many artists or projects this Y E K O project is the real fruit of an atypical musical personality.

The challenge of social change consists first of all in individual awareness. In this world context where the news is governed by the division between people , we wish to say, thanks to this song, that we human beings are all the same and that an even blood flows in our veins whoever we are (Abiana “ I am one of us, you are made of me”) , that we have to be there for each other ( Joyce “ you are not alone”) and that the purpose of our passage on Earth should be Love between us all.

LOUDER

A reggae-infused outcry, "LOUDER" confronts the issue of female genital mutilation with a blend of defiance and hope characteristic of the genre. LOUDER takes the listener from the shadows of tradition to the light of empowerment, using the music's spirit of rebellion to underscore a plea for change. The song amplifies the voices of affected women, breaking the silence, and culminating as a vibrant declaration of individual worth and collective liberation, transforming personal pain into a global call for women's rights and dignity.
